hello,

since I'm not having any luck figuring out what some of the warning lights on my dash do, I thought I'll post a new thread and hopefully get some answers :)
FWIW, original discussion is on here

helm_dash_ivecowarninglights.jpg

engines are 8061 SRM 33

TEMP - BATTERY
OIL (press or level?) - no idea!
heating coil (not installed) - no idea!
empty - no idea!

Anyone can help on that? Yes, I have looked around the truck forums, searched for engine user manuals (to no avail) and am not having any progress...

OK, the reason is that

A. it's nice to know what's these lights (never on when using the craft till now!)
B. planning on a more minimal design and since the gauges do have warning lights, I'm thinking of removing the big fugly warning lights and integrate them in the gauges. Yes, they will be less visible, but the extremely strong siren is still working and will keep me awake and alert if anything happens ;)

cheers

Ok, I'm not certain on these but as no-one else seems to have answered on either thread, here's my contribution:

Over Temperature / Charge Fault

Low Oil Pressure / Water in filter

Over revs (or beyond specification?) / Air filter restriction or blocked air inlet

/ Glow plugs

All IMHO of course ;)

thanks a lot!

makes sense IF I find some sort of sensor on the engine mounted fuel filters.
Haven't checked them tbh but for sure the SEPAR2000s don't have any wires dangling off them. Having said that, I wouldn't be impressed if the engines are not fitted with such sensors as there are the separs doing most of the work (allegedly).

Now, I can stick over temp, charge, low oil press to their respective dials (water temp, voltometer, oil press) and that's going to be OK.
Problem is where to stick the water in filter warning light (if it is connected...) :(
Glow plugs are definitely not installed and I'll seartch in the service manual for mentioning over air filter restriction sensors of any sort???
I guess that this plus the possible overrevving are things that are/should be supported on el.controled engines, hence not applicable on mine??

I'll investigate further and come back ;)

cheers

I agree with :

Over Temperature / Charge Fault

Low Oil Pressure / ???

??? / ???

/ Glow plugs

Not sure about the others.

I'd go with the plan of putting the first three in the respective gauges and if i needed any others, there are plenty of neat warning lamps available.

thanks,

I've already bought some nice nickel smallish ones for my wipers, may end up using them for this unknown fourth warning light (water in fuel possibly)

dont supose you have some wiring digrams, & work out the unusual ones from that?

nope :(

and I sort of remember the iveco engineer that serviced my engines (who was also the one that installed them 10years ago) saying "don't worry one the first two rows of warning lights work on your installation"
So that makes them the three obvious ones plus the coolant level.
The way I'm planning to work it out is by searching on the engines for the appropriate sensors ;)
Did check today, and I cannot find any wiring off/around the engine fuel filters, so the water in filter case should be dismissed.
Having suffered a fractured rib last week, I'm not quite ok bending and folding in two to examine coolant tank, so I'll skip that for Monday...

To try and help I have numbered the warning lights:

helm_dash_ivecowarninglights.jpg

1: Coolant overheat
2: Oil Pressure
3: unsure
4: Gen Light (Charging)
5: unsure
6: Air Filter Restriction
7: Glow Plugs or Pre Heat system

Hope this helps

Cheers
Paul.

good thanks!

now it seems that only the spiral thingy (item3) is unclear. Bearing in mind it shoudn't be connected/working on my setup, means that I'm finished and ready. Just need to install one warning light per engine for the coolant level ;)

updates in the main helm design thread tomorrow!

cheers

my vote would be

5 coolant level, also.

3 something to do with boost / turbo/ air. But probably wrong

I had a quick net search on this and only found workshop rebuild manual, no wiring diags.
