I\'ve just fallen in love again.....................

WOW I want it!!

But what a strange name Mosi Oya Tunya What the heck does that mean?

Re: I\'ve just fallen in love again.....................

It means "The Smoke that Thunders" or "The Smoke which Thunders"
It's the African name for Livingstone's title for "The Victoria Falls" named after Queen Victoria.

Re: I\'ve just fallen in love again.....................

I can understand why, very nice looking boat with a class pedigree. Good spec looks like it's been sorted and maintained well. At sensible price too. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Good luck in your pursuit. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: I\'ve just fallen in love again.....................

Its an Alan Burnard hull so sea keeping excellent.

Fine boats these, I think an excellent attempt at carrying on the Fairey boat theme, much like the 30/37/40 from Swordsman Marine.

Re: I\'ve just fallen in love again.....................

Is'nt this boat a touch too racy for you at your age, ljs? Would'nt you prefer something a bit more sedate?

Re: I\'ve just fallen in love again.....................

And there speaks the man who in a drunken stupor agrees to go rallying!

"The Smoke that Thunders" or "The Smoke which Thunders"

Couldn't they just shorten it to Volvo penta then??

Re: I\'ve just fallen in love again.....................

No, that's one of the benefits, no Volvos in sight, good old Sabres.

Re: I\'ve just fallen in love again.....................

Yes, but it was one of those completely lucid drunken stupors during which you know for sure that you are not drunk and everything you say makes complete sense

Re: I\'ve just fallen in love again.....................

Agree, lovely boat, Northshore just started building them again. The early ones were hugely expensive to build hence the orginal people went tits up, no expense was spared in the build, best of everything.

They do carry this legandary sea keeping ability thing however sales bods really over emphasise it and to be honest they are not really any better than the current crop of well designed and screwed together sports cruisers or planing hull boats (although miles better than some). A Botnia Targa 31 / 35 hull is probably a bit better. With shafts even with the Sabres is not exactly a rocket ship and you do loose quite a bit of space because in the shaft configuration.

Still at that money and such a lovely timeless design you can't go wrong, looks beautiful and should carry on another 20 years at least.

I have seen her at Hamble and she is in nice condition, well cared for boat.

Re: I\'ve just fallen in love again.....................

I'm not sure about 'good old sabres' in this case, I think they might be dover block with two stage coolers, in which case were talking about pulling a lot of HP from that block, I beleive that at anything much over 300 hp longevity suffers nad things go wrong, I heard of a main bearing cap going pop and that finished the engine off.

Re: I\'ve just fallen in love again.....................

You can now you've sold your house. Just got to work out how to get back onboard with the tanks and sc......s

Re: I\'ve just fallen in love again.....................

I was going to mention the same thing about the Sabre engines because my mechanical man used to the say the same. I believe that block was stretched as far as 420hp and my man said that the 370hp and 420hp versions are a step too far. As you say, upto 300hp, they're pretty much bombproof

Re: I\'ve just fallen in love again.....................

Seems you're right Ben, just spoke to the broker who tells me that the port engine will only start after 10 minutes of warming and that they think both engines will need replacing in the next few years.

Re: I\'ve just fallen in love again.....................

Bloody hell, another one crawls out of the woodwork!! Might have sold one house but just about to complete on another.

Thought about coming up your way tomorrow for the athletics.

Re: I\'ve just fallen in love again.....................

I think with 370's in good order it should be pretty quick, one benefit of the ford motor is that they are cheap to rebuild, Sabre wont be interested but Mermaid would not charge massive money for new shells/pistons/turbo recon etc.

I thought that Gavin Poole had one on his books but just checked his website and it seems not. I think I saw a Sworsdman 37 up for £105k plus vat whihc I thought was amazing value.
