I\'ve just done a Tesco shop

With a view to being offshore for a while..perhaps 7 to 10 days.

I was surprised what you can get that will still be in date by 16th July. eggs included.. Obviously lots of tinned stuff - yeast with all the good intentions of making bread, part baked probably easier.

And of course - frayious bentios -

Dried curry stuff custard UHT milk and Cravendale milk will keep two weeks..

Pleased with that.

Blimey I sound like a right old woman.

Maybe a bit late now....but for bread making the small bags of ready mixed flower and yeast were very good as you use the whole bag each time, just chuck it in a bowl mix with warm water and then bake. Cant remember what they're called but they do lots of diffrent types. No measuring or weighing so ideal on a boat.

Ready mixed Pizza bases were good as well, you can then make a square pizza to fit the oven

Putting cheese in olive oil so that its covered works as well.

Have a good trip ....at least work finishes soon...

Best of luck, I remember when we did our trans-Biscay shop it brings the whole thing alive.

Fair winds and don't you be going to any of them there foriegn drinking places, you'll be led astray!

Tesco : once in a lifetime experience

wow, shopping at Tesco eh? Gosh, i have often thought of doing it but, yerknow, never quite had the time, and there's the cost of the charts to get there and organising trolleys and so on.

Was it an orgainsed trip or did you just set off your own? I hear that they run special trips for those who who daren't go to tesco's on their own or who gfancy a bit of company but it costs several hundred quid and you get a party at the start and finish, is that right? :-)

Don't forget the 5 for 3 priced TV Dinners .... Chinese / Indian / Mexican etc. that really are a boon when you just want a quick meal without all the preparation ...........

Thinking about Food ......... Svetlana's just brought me my Strawberry's and Ice Cream ...... isn't that nice .... (Strawberry's fresh from our own garden !!)

Re: Tesco : once in a lifetime experience

I think its a bit much that you made the girl take the trolley to the boat ... but I suppose she also took it back too ... ?
If your that infirm that you can't pack your own shopping bags should you really be going off sailing??

Hi
Is tesco now taking over from the local boozer? did it take you 5 hours to buy 9 items? the other 4.75 hours stopping in the isles to chat to friends. I know of someone who tells his wife that he is going to take the dog for a walk, but is secretly going to the local supermarket.

Re: I\'ve just done a Tesco shop

After a life in the hospitality trade the poorest years (financially) were running the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club in the mid seventies, however they were the days my wife and I met and made some of our best friends. Pubs and clubs are one of the few places where you can rub shoulders with strangers and make life long friends.

Re: I\'ve just done a Tesco shop

Most of my tins bought 2 years ago and still in date.........but thats what we have to do when cruising the west coast of Scotland!!!!

Paul.

p.s. look out for "Moo" milk, tastes as good as fresh milk and will last 28 days.

Re: I\'ve just done a Tesco shop

Yep - bloody marevelous mate !!!

I really envy you and the trip .... wish I could take time off to crew for a while.

May the seas and winds always be in your favour ... I suppose we will see you back in Blighty at some time ???

Nice boat, nice trip and good people !!
