Ive invented a new type of oar/paddle!

In reply to a few people, yes the praddle has been around for a while, but still takes up as much room as an ordinary paddle or oar. If you put a praddle on the base of a dinghy, you still cant use that space, as treading or kneeling on one is either dangerous or uncomforable. The unique thing about mine is that it takes up ZERO room until deployed.

So im not patenting the type of paddle as such (I suppose my title was a little over zealous..) I have patented the 'flatpack' design of the existing paddle.

Nah, once the patent has been date stamped, its mine. No one can take credit for it.

If i had developed the idea whilst at work and being paid by a company to do so, the patent would be theirs, not mine.

Even if i had developed the patent with information from ybw.com, i believe they would still have no rights to it.

If however, i had disclosed drawings or enough information about the patent online (or in any public place) BEFORE i had filed for a patent and someone could prove that i had done so, then the patent would be worthless.

But as it stands, i have a 'patent pending' which is like a 12 month free patent, where it is neither classed as a patent or novel, its just a 12 month period whereby inventors can pursue an idea with protection, as long as a patent is taken out at the end of the 12 months.
