I've got too much stuff.

Fenders, to paraphrase Simon Cowell, leaving them out is a resounding no from me... but baskets I'm OK with

We use baskets even on our sailyboat, because the single cockpit locker is already half-full of dinghy. Works very well, they’re out of the way, not taking up useful space, and are easy to get out and put away.

We also stow the commonly-used warps there, in alpine coils hung round the necks of the fenders, though I’m not sure I’d want to do that on the foredeck of a fast motorboat ;)

Pete

What I like about the baskets is they are conveniently placed so as not to have to try and carry several at once as you move down the boat. Mine are already clipped to the rail so all the admiral does is flip them out and job done with the exception of the centre one which just has to be slid down the rail to it's position.

I have gone from a fly with aft cabin 36’ to fly with covered cockpit 40’.
Transfering stuff after 6 trolleys had barely scratched the surface.
4’ longer but with less room.
Lazeret is big enough to lie down in and still not see daylight.
Now considering and extra 100m of 10mm chain to make her sit level
and wondering if she is overpropped.
Drove last you yesterday, did you see me waving?

What boat do you have, where did you see me? I’ve got a waving habit so there are a few candidates!

OK, so did you pass me about opposite HYS / Port Hamble going down river? I remember a cheery wave from a flybridge boat about there?

I don’t know if it actually was you I waved to, generally most MBs wave to each other, some yachties do but that is another thread.
Ill watch out for you

I am interested why you are thinking about another 100m of chain (145kg) as ballast, where to put the chain and why you think she is over propped? What are the engines?

Sorry Bandit, 100m chain was tongue in cheek.
she sits 4” higher at bow than stern from previously painted anti foul. I have got a lot of stuff in the Laz and 220l in long range tanks yet to pump out. None of which is helping
Engine are 63p but losing 150 rpm at top end

Funnily enough I repowered a Sedan 36 in 2002 with a pair of 63p's and I put larger fuel tanks in , so 1700L instead of 1,100L , a great range but a load of weight in a short hull. She was over-propped even at low fuel levels like 1100 litres.

I have always said the best thing you could possibly do is take everything off the boat every winter and only put back what you need the following spring, an adage that is fine in principal but not a practice i have ever followed unfortunately, my boat is like my garage, full of useful stuff I may need.

Weight at the back makes a huge difference , think extra fuel, other lazarette equipment and stores, dinghy, outboard , life raft all at the back.

Original manufacturers trials were with a spotless hull, new engines, half fuel, half water, 2 persons and absolutely no other gear or stores on board.

Have a chat with Clements engineering about your props they probably made the original props and have the original data, you could get the props re pitched to see if that helps.

I was thinking repitching as this is my normal cruising weight and I live onboard for the summer. Interestingly all 4 tachometers were fiddle to read +3.5 %. Only noticed when fitted a pair of new.
I bet the sedan went like the proverbial off a shovel

With Volvo Penta tachos you can adjust their read out by a small adjustment of 100rpm or so so, the pick up is taken from the Alternator.

My current boat an Aquastar 48 has the same 63P engines so December 2001 vintage.

The pick up on these is from the crank so no slippage .
I got the impression that they were adjusted to read correctly at WOT but have been assured that VP nor Princess would have allowed it to leave the factory unless correct!!!

Where are you in Guernsey?
