We take the boat out of the water Oct - April (Or whatever, depending on weather)

We service before we take her out of the water at end of season for 2 reasons: 1) Fresh fluids while sitting static over the winter 2) It's a headache less to think about in Spring.

Today, finally finished the other horrible job of compounding & polishing. Unfortunately it was dark and started raining by the time I got to sit back and admire :(

Oh, and we got her a trailer!! (Well, launching trolly... saves using lifter / slings and then having to adjust stands etc. every year)

Sat her on the trailer for the first time earlier and took her back out (some other small jobs to get done) but glad to report my (dodgy) measurements were spot on!

ROLL ON THE SUMMER!

That's a sweet looking boat. Whereabouts are you based? I'm in Kenmare and also looking forward to an improvement in the weather as I'll be splashing my Wellcraft for the first time after a refurb. I bought it as a project and haven't had it on the water at all yet.

It's getting close though.............

Hi N! Boat is looking good! Trailer is very handy if one has the facilities to use it.

Just last weekend I completed the same job myself. Still a bit of cleaning and servicing to do but polishing is the hardest job for sure. I just wish the bleeding snow would melt...

All the best!

Congrats N, well done! :encouragement:
Just take care with the trailer, when used as a launching trolly.
The Smeraldo is a huge boat by trailer standards, and you don't want to increase the number of launch fail videos the web is already full of... :(

On Lough Corrib. Thanks for the kind words, I really do love the Smeraldo. Cranchi did a good job on that one (That said, don't think i've ever seen an ugly Cranchi)

Hi K,
We have a tractor in the local yard, so very easy to move around. Also not having to chock the boat every year is such a bonus! The compounding / polishing is a horrible task, but I think you'll agree is VERY satisfying when done :)

Hi P,
Would you believe, the trolley was purpose built for my old Zaffiro 34 (previous owner had her custom made). She then went to another location but I tracked it down last Winter. She's now back home! :) Given she had movable support arms, the extra beam was no issue. We did have to make some height adjustments on the side supports which was easily done.

Hi N.

Hope you didn’t drink the whole of the barrel in the pic.....at least, not in one go. :D:D
It would take you to spot that :D :D :D Good spot, I was waiting to see who would spot it first
