Little Ship came out of the water yesterday and will be high and dry until next April.

On the plus side my last 10 miles was in very pleasant conditions.

Mines coming out on Thursday and that's in Corfu!!!! It's not so much the weather, although it has been an odd summer down here, but the fact that I'm moored on a boat hire business pontoon and he's shutting up shop this weekend. Nobody there to look after things as usual.

I could put it somewhere else for a few weeks but it needs a bit of fettling so out she will come and back up to the house. New bilge pump is the first job.

you were lucky yesterday we met a f6 comin out the straits on way back to conwy from porth danial

Lovely boat, but why are you taking her out for 6 months as this is the best time to be out in the solent imho :-)

I agree LionsDen but yer Man is obssed by varnish and looking good and Looking after His complection and hair doo, its quite embarassig hactually!
For an Old Man but there yer go, It's what makes the World go round

There's never a good time to be out in the Solent........:encouragement:

Kwacker is almost right, I like to look after Little Ship and taking her out over the winter is better for me as I can use her from April on as there is no work needed when she goes back in.

As for his comment about hair...... We"ll ignore that.

I'll second that question, but mostly because LS is a timber boat, and I've always been told to leave wooden hulls out of the water as shortly as possible.
Actually, also mine has been on the hard for about 6 months in a row, in a few occasions, and didn't suffer any planks cracking or major leakages.
So, you'll probably be fine, also because I guess that LS will not be surrounded by a very hot and dry weather, in the next months... :D
Just thought to mention it...

Although she goes in the shed, she isn't heated at all unless I stay over and then minimal. I've never had a problem with shrinkage of planks, but I wouldn't expect any with the way she is built.
I have on a couple of occasions left her outside over winter periods although with a full winter cover but I feel better with her in the shed then I can do all my winter maintenance before launch in the spring. Then it's off cruising when most are trying to catch up :encouragement:

Hot and dry weather ???? What's that then :p
Tom.
