So why was I so emotional yesterday when I left her?

Having sailed from Southampton to Inverness via Ireland, the Crinan and Caledonian canals and of course the beautiful Western isles (pics to follow if I can remember how) I have put my Antares 30 up for sale in Inverness. Could not believe how emotional I was when I left, I am supposedly a grown man!

Probably because it's the longest relationship I've had with anything female!

Fully understandable........ You should have seen the state I was in when I sold one of my classic cars years ago to move house.

If your getting out of boating you shouldn't be worried if your not, look forward to the next boat.

Now"........ You passed through the Clyde without buying a round....... Totally unforgivable.:p nearly as bad a Kwacker.

Tom.

Crazily I agree. If you try to explain boat ownership to people, they think we're mad - "it's costs you how much! You have to fix engines, toilets! It takes you how long to clean it! Etc etc. But once it's in the blood, I'm afraid there's no turning back, your hooked. I often b*ll*ck my dad saying why couldn't you have got me hooked on fishing or the like as a kid, I know my bank balance would have an extra zero in it :).

Sorry only had crew for two days, so had to get through Crinan! By the way, not a cheap place you do your boating is it, £500 for a month, I thought the Solent was expensive!

I have left the keys! Just give Caleymarine a small(ish) amount of cash and she's yours!

Oooh ... know them pretty well by now, so no problem really .... :)

More seriously .... and just IMHO .... Boats shift a lot faster on the West Coast as the market is much bigger than on the NE Coast of Scotland. I know that some of the boats on Caley's books have been "for sale" for a couple of years now.... Just thought you'd like to know that if I were to consider selling Navigator (berthed in Inverness), I would move her to a West-Coast Marina and advertise from there...

Thanks for that, did think about that but with the internet and everything does it really make that much difference? After all if you're on the west coast and looking for an Antares 30 wouldn't it be worth the quick hop up to have a look? The price of storage on the west coast does appear to be rather expensive versus Inverness too. If she doesn't sell before next summer I will probably have her transported back down south.

Makes sense ... IV as winter storage as you are here (loads of boats from West Coast is coming over for that)... Caley is not the best known broker the UK in, nor best web-design so audience may be restricted, but they do have pretty much an enviable position in the region as one of the very few providing the service ... http://www.caleyboats.co.uk/buy-a-boat/power-boats-search-page

Strange innit? When we took delivery of a brand new S37 a number of years ago, SWMBO was howling as our F33, taken in Part ex, passed through Hythe Lock, and disappeared down Southampton Water. She was inconsolable even though she hated the boat whilst in our hands! Soon got over it though.
