Well it might not be official but is England less welcoming to sailors than a Kangaroo hernia?
Whilst cruising over the last few years around Europe we have found every place we have been to welcoming, warm and friendly.
It is rare to find high fences around the marina anywhere outside the UK and the locals come down onto the pontoons, chat and invite you to their houses for drinks or meals.
The other day the local club captain brought down masses or oranges and lemons for everyone.
People want to talk with you. They go out of there way to help.
They are not bothered about flags and clubs and etiquette. They are more bothered about you.
The people who work in the marinas do anything they can to help and will always be there to help you in with your boat.
The local electronics shop owner took English lessons so he could communicate better.
I may be wrong as I usually am but looking back England has been one of the least welcoming and helpful countries we have been to.
Am I right or wrong?
I have visited hot arid islands in the Med but the only place I have ever been charged for water was in Scilly.
