Nearly 6 years since I sold my last boat I've finally found, surveyed and agreed a deal on boat number 6.

The issues with the Azimut deal still rumble on but I've put that behind me and moved on. The new boat is a little older than id have liked, and a little bigger, but I am very pleased and I hope that it means that boat number 7 is a loooong way off.

So what is she????

A 1994 Ferretti 150. She is cosmetically in top condition, for her age or a boat 10 years younger. Shopping in the med I expected to deal with sagging head linings and faded wood work but she has non of these. The bulk of the wood retains its high gloss finish (I know cherry is a bit passée but I like it), the fixtures and fittings are of an excellent quality and you can still see the effort put into her build 21 years on.

Ive learnt my lessons, so survey and seatrial were done without a deposit being paid. The agreed price has now been placed in an escrow account with a marine lawyer and once the broker provides all of the papers (which were finitely detailed in the contract) I will fly out, inspect the boat and authorise release of the funds to the owner.

You could say once bitten twice shy applies here.

Hopefully there will be a successful delivery trip post sometime in mid September.

Congratulations, Jez. She looks an absolute stunner. Never mind eating your dinner off the floor of the engine room, it looks clean enough to perform transplant surgery - but, hopefully, not of the from-your-wallet-into-an-engineer's-pocket type. ;)

Congratulations, she looks great. Don't mind the cherry and the engine rooms looks fantastic (geeky comment I know but...). Hope the final dotting of i's and crossing of t's goes well and you have many happy times on her.

Many congratulations, I'm pleased for you after your last experience. Well done for sticking with it and bouncing back so quickly when many others would have given up boating altogether. She looks tip top too!

Many congrats! Lovely looking boat :)
Nothing at all wrong with an older boat, especially one in great condition! Our Broom is of 1992 vintage and still looks great.....build quality is everything and yours looks to very well put together.

Well done, that looks like real wood they've used on the joinery, so maybe a little older but perhaps a little better than some of the newer stuff people have tried to sell us. Bet the portholes are proper metal too !!

You can see it because it was positively there, in the first place.
Back in those days, Norberto had yet to be involved in creative finance, you know...
And on top of that, she seems well maintained indeed!
I'm very happy to hear that you will soon be afloat with a great boat, eventually. :encouragement:

Well done Jez... Got there in the end. Still need to do a write up on mine, but too much time spent antifouling, polishing or enjoying. All the best.. Mike
