It\'s all my own fault, which makes it worse.

I bought my wife a weekend of falconry for her birthday and booked it for this weekend. It's probably the nicest sailing weekend so far this year, all my friends ( crew)are away and I can't really single hand the boat with a very mobile 16 month old toddler.

Or can I???

I took mine sailing 2 up with a non sailor aged 18months. I put him in his baby bouncer and strung him between the coachroof winches. Gave him a sweet/sticky thing regularly, no problem. Only in the Medway, so not arduous.
Couldn't recommend it as a course of action now, as aged sagacity has replaced youthful invulnerability.

Re: Given the choice

I'd rather watch the wife learn falconry with a toddler than go sailing with one. Still that's just me. I did used to take a 2yr and 3yr old sailing in an old Mirror dinghy in Salcombe. When they got bored you could go up the beach and they'd cheer up again. Of course that could be why they don't like sailing now.
