Following wee Jimi's example and lulled into a false sense of security by Jim's eulogising, I bowed to the crews pressure and fitted an electric cludgie.

Jabsco say that it has the same footprint as the compact, what they mean is the four fixing holes are compatible, every thing else is different, so much time was spent juggling bits of pipe, to get the damn thing in, a ballsaching job conducted at a half crouch in a confined space.

The cable and the siphon break will be tidied up when I can be arsed.

The old unit will be sanitised, shrink wrapped and put under the fore peak bunk, belt and braces.

Crews comment, shame it hasn't got a heated seat, ingrate.

Heated seat? Whatever next?

I often think boatbuilders start with the toilet and construct the rest of the boat around it.

Our Jabsco lite has been giving monumental problems for some time, not emptying properly. We took it apart today - a very simple job - and checked - all OK. The we checked the seacock, massive water flow so no problems there. Then we replaced the entire run of discharge pipe which had a join and I think it was the join what done it. Full and perfect emptying.
