Good day, captains,

After 3 seasons of boating, I am thinking about my next boat.

I am far away from Europe and difficult to collect information, so I need your recommendations. My
criteria and needs are as followed:

===========================================================================================

Usage:
1. Angling for couple hours.1 or 2 person. (60% of usage)
2. Couple hours of anchorge in a small bay. Mostly 4 or 5 persons, at most 7 persons. (40% of usage)
3. The longest non-stop cruise is 2 days (1 night) with 6 ~ 7 persons on board.
4. No live aboard requirement.

Interior/Exterior:
1. 2 rooms with doors.
2. 1 head with separate shower is preferred.
3. Aft galley is preferred.
4. Prefer to have interior be as simple/elegent as possible. No need bulky sofa, huge dinnet area...
5. Sunbathing is not needed.
6. Fully enclosed cabin for escaping from sudden storm/rain.
7. Need a side door for helm station.
8. Eay access to engine services.

Technical Specification:
1. No IPS.
2. Shaft drive is preferred.
3. Ideal boat length is between 38 ~ 44 feet.
4. Prefer NOT to have a fly bridge.
5. Cruising speed around 20 ~ 22 knots. WOT around 30 knots.
6. Maximum Cruise range: 250 nm. with build-in tank.
7. Prefer to have CAT engine.
8. 110V/60Hz power system needed.
9. As comfort as possible in rough conditions.

Budget: US$500000 ~ US$550000. I assume I don't need to pay VAT for the boats that exported to Asia. Am I right?

Currently, I own a Quicksilver 855 weekend with 300HP outboard.

Would you please recommend some suitable boats for me? For narrowing down the scope, I would like to start from new boats.

Appreciate for any recommendation.

Something from a established dealer nearby .
There are very limited dealers in Taiwan, and the boat shows are canceled due to the pandemic. Therefore, I would like
to do some homework in the cyber world before my next movement.

In Taiwan, as far as I know, there are dealers for Quicksilver, Jeanneau, Barvavia, Beneteau, Nimbus, Leopard, Lagoon, Axopar, Sea Line, Princesses. But none of them have good reputation among boat owners.

Ni hao Peter- Princess is certainly a good make, but for you the dealer is in Taichung.
Beneteau Swift trawler would appear to meet some of your needs - Perhaps a PM to Bouba (on this forum) might get some help - He has a smaller version.

It doesn't have to be European boat, but those American boats you mentioned are all fishing boats which my family don't
like how they look.

Apologies. I thought by 60% angling you were after a boat suited to fishing. European cruisers are anything but suited. Wait till you get a fish hook stuck in the cockpit vinyls and you'll see why.

How important is this number 6 on the second list , the enclosed space for storms thing ?

Otherwise out of the 21 sum on your three lists a Itama 38 hits 19/21 .
The two it misses are the “ new “ and number 6 as mentioned ^^^ .

With the “ new “ there are many refurbed examples with CATs etc and you will have bags of cash headroom to do whst ever, like have a HT and a semi fishing look .

Full fact fisher look next door.

From information that I have collected, I think Swift Trawler 41 can be an candidate.

Do you agree? Or, why not?
Not fast enough .
In a chop it will fail this you say ...”.9. As comfort as possible in rough conditions.“
You need to fast plane without slamming and those ST s .

Speed means you can get home quicker out run it .
Deep V , deadrise of over 20 degree means ( mines 23 btw ) fits the “ —— as possible —— “ if I understand your detailed and not unreasonable wish list ??
Without strict adherence to number 9 , you will be Billy no mates , on your own your family will cock off trips out with slightest hint of a breeze.

on paper a Prestige 420S ticks most of the boxes (not sure you’ll get anything with a cat in it) but some feel the quality isn’t there for the internal materials etc but it’s twin shaft, galley aft, twin cabins and single head.

Being from NZ a boat I like is the AT43, it is galley up, 2 or 3 cabins, single head, shaft drive (single or twins). The boat is a production version of an original custom design from a well respected designer.

It’s remarkable the old ‘posters will always recommend their own boats, regardless of what’s wanted’!
I guess that’s aimed at me .Sorry I thought I qualified the reasons .What was wanted by using the info the OP posted .
Summing his 3 lists into 21 bulletin points and finding a boat 19 out of the 21.
Then proposing get arounds for the other 2 , one of which was only “ new “ .

For the record my “ own “ boat MAN engines so I discounted it , the 38 has CATs .
I f it was not me who were you referring to ?
Can you put up a proposition to beat 19 ? . From the OP s requirement list of 21 ?

Good luck with beating my 19 .

I can’t beat 19?‍♂️
I’m really stuck at Caterpillar engines. I think American boats are the only option, almost every European boat has Volvo’s.??‍♂️??‍♂️

I notice that most European boats do not provide the same function as my Quicksilver 855 weekend --- family and angling. My Quicksilver 855
satisfies most of my criteria but just way too small and can't run far.

Prestige 420S did catch my attention until I found she is equipped with IPS.

I will take a look at AT43. Thank you very much.

Fully enclosed space is very important to me. In Taiwan, the thunder shower/storm is almost on daily base in Summer.
