Hi,

We are in Croatia and we are getting a great deal 1Gb per day to use for 10Kuna per day (1.3 euro) but we will be leaving soon and wish to have a SIM for Italy and then Greece.

Can the people of Forum assist.

No calls, no texts just a SIM card for internet only. (We have EE ROAMING for calls and texts) we use a Globe Surfer 3 which the SIM card slots into we change the APN to what ever the SIM requires. Then we have a mobile hotspot that can share to all devices on board. The 1GB per day works very well.

Thanks
James

We really are then getting an amazing deal here in Croatia 1GB per day for 1.3Euro. Italy and Greece surprisingly seem more expensive.

I dont know what the service is like in the rest of Italy but here in southern Sicily wind is hopeless, very unstable and constantly dropping out. We have had to write it off and move over to vodafone which is much better.

Surely that depends on your use? We rarely have day without internet coverage, 30 days at 1.3 euros is a lot more than I'm currently paying

WIND in Sicily, where we've been the last 3 weeks, has been noticeably worse for drop out than it was in Sardinia. Not yet to the point where I'm looking for alternatives though but thanks for the pointer, so far restarting the mifi box does the trick.

It's even better than that James as when you have used the 1GB you can still connect but at a reduced connection speed.

With SWMBO, two boys and me aboard, all with laptops or tablets, we regularly exceed the 1GB Vipnet limit before the 24 hours has elapsed but can still use our devices.

Of course, this is low usage for us. At home we are on unlimited BT Infinity and regularly exceed 100GB per month!

Hi in Greece we used Vodafone which had a great internet service but often the sim would stop working and had to go back to a store for reconnection, I never did work out why this happened. Next time I might try a different carrier.

In sicily/Italy we used TIM, 10gb for around 30€ a month, the service was fabulous and almost always had a signal. Was able to skype and even watch movies online with no problems. But we did encounter one problem, we sailed across to Malta for a few days and when arriving back to Sicily the internet wouldn't work, found out from a TIM store that has we had left the country it invalidated the sim and I had to pay 5€ to reconnect. Probably worth turning roaming off if you venture far from land (which is what we ended up doing)
