Italian charts

I use Rod Heikels book “ Italian waters pilot “ by Imray .

Does the trick . It’s got all the do‘s and don’ts in !

For marina booking I E mailed them a few days previously, this does mean you need to plan .

Chiavari is a lovely town ( restaurants / shops ) and marina for the Portofino bay and Portovenere a gem as car less castle enclosed town for the bay of La Spetzia .There’s plenty of anchorages around the island s near by though .It’s a National park though so you need a guide book as some areas are restricted. There’s also heavy military bases off limits further in the estuary again guide book handy .

Navs easy 90 degrees on compass to get there and 270 to return !

Hardly any of the British big two manufacturers and FLs …….Your Pershing will blend in nicely.

Mention what boat you have as well as the dims when you book ;) FWIW .

That boat to your portside the Hudson is a nice and good boat.

Hudson and Ricci was the powerboat arm created by Cantieri del Pardo of Grand Soliel fame in 1988 and existed till 1996. Recently Pardo has returned in building powerboats with the hot selling cc series.
I think in four years they sold like 200 plus of the 43, if it was Princess they might have made a 2027 waiting list for your next order

Anyways Hudson built over forty of the 40, and five of the Ferretti looking 54.

The Hudson 40 is a very good seakeeping boat, hull by Jim Wynn/Walt Walters and design by Fred Hudson who later will do the Uniesse range of boats.
Some Italians sill look for them, especially those who want a no frills seakeeping boat which the 40 is.

I used same book for Italy. It is quite good but by far the best info is on Navily. If you pay the £6 pa on top it gives excellent info re weather and also has a very good routing system.

I second Navily, only place where it did not work was St. Tropez but that would be the norm for us lowly peasants (read under 20 mt length). All other ports I could book online and costed nothing.

Wheater-side I use Meteo Consult Marine and they are usually right.

Or get in port early around 2 pm and they are usually free spaces everywhere, I made a few stops in the Sanremo - Toulon stretch 2 weeks ago and very few boats around compared to previous years, maybe it will warm up after next weekend.
