...that we are losing valuable people and resources round here.

Whilst I dont like whats going on elsewhere, I would like to continue the very friendly focus on this part of the forums.

Please keep us all in contact here.

I think a 3rd successive BBQ on the grass bank at Bradwell in early May would be a lovely idea. Any takers?

I am a little puzzled but as you know i dont follow "other" areas too closely....

I for one have no problem with the East Coast bunch...I have only met.....about 30 or so /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif but we all seem to get along.

early May?

Yep....for me weather dependant of course.
I might even have a crew member for the weekend after bank holiday.
Sunday at N. Weald still on?

BTW i am on the boat being buffeted by the little breezes the weather is throwing at us at the moment...enjoying it too

Ah...now if you had spoken to me about the garden furniture DAKA has /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif you wouldnt be picking up the matchsticks now /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Also moving South ( to here ) until normal service resumes
Much as I enjoy a little laugh I do think things have reached something of a disaster in certain areas so I think I'll keep clear for a while
To my shame I have to admit to posting a link ( hastily pulled ) to a site I would prefer never to have found , so apologies to anyone offended by that
I think I'm going to have to take a break from the forum , the fun element seems to have deteriorated to personal attacks which although I find quite amusing sometimes , it has reached a point where I've had enough
So probably best to stick to being sensible for a while

Once the boat is done and back in I'll be able to look at plans for the future but for now I'm going to concentrate on the work and get her done . No doubt I'll get drawn back in by some of the comments but it's certainly not much fun at the moment

Sounds a good idea, I know my partner is almost obsessed with BBQ's having cleared out the charcoal bunker in the aft locker (ducks and runs).

Really just beginning to get to match people with usernames on forum but it has a good club atmosphere, long may it remain.

I note on the Bristol channel forum they have a designed and bought a custom burgee, not suggesting we follow suit, but it seems signicant that the area forums have more convivial dialogue and are interested in helping each other as the prime function. perhaps YBW could institute a vitriol corner, along with the irony smiley, tongue in cheek smiley......

At least our forum is down where the mud is deep and fun prevails.

Barbeque in Bradwell sounds like a good idea...

I'd like to put some faces to names and hope also to make the Ostend trip at the back end of May.

I have to confess that when threads on scuttlebutt and the lounge deteriorate into mud-slinging I just hit "index" and find either the next thread or one of the other forums - It doesn't bother me - I just think life's too short!!!

Anyway - I really value the East Coast Forum and hope to meet some of you all this year.

Simon

I think I would like to try and come down to say hello. I havent met any of you East Coasters yet. But would I be allowed being as I come from the Medway??, or does that come under the South Coast??, talk about being in no-mans land...
If it has any bearing on the decision, I bought my boat from an East Coaster up on the Orwell??

Hi Andy,

The East Coast forum's a broad church - Medway very much qualifies as East Coast.
Most welcome.

I think I remember Truant - we were in Gillingham 5-6 years ago.
Yanita - our then boat - was an Etap 38i. We were berthed just across from the lock.

We're hoping our house move to North Essex will take place in early April so would like to be counted in for anything social after that. I'm rather hoping we might do the Ostend trip, combining that with bringing Chellers from Sovereign Harbour to Neptune Marina, but HWMBO isn't too keen to do it with just me as crew as I'm only Incompetent Crew level so we may have to give Oostende a miss. However if we can rustle up more confidence or more crew I hope we can come along! But count us in for a Barbecue anyway.

Not for us, I've swapped my rotas to early May to try to get to Ostend /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hope to be able to attend, dependent on date as am already committed 1st, 3rd and 4th weekends!

If Bernie has finished my cushions by then you never know but I might get Swmbo and smallest boy (9.5) along too! That way she might see me at least one weekend in May. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
