Is this the end of AF ?

{there is a concern that authorities may decide to restrict the application and use of antifouling paints to strictly professional applicators and organisations.}

What's next ? Are we to be stopped servicing our engines ? Or polishing our top sides

I believe in Germany you're not allowed to work on your car, or wash it, on your driveway or the road outside your house.

In Bavaria on a Sunday MOST certainly not!! .... putting your washing out to dry would be an even worse offense ;)

Edit: Having a dirty car is nearly as bad :confused:

Years ago I visited friends who live by Little Loch Broom. When I arrived, on a Saturday afternoon, they looked dubiously at my Triumph Herald and said "If you need to mend your car, remember that you can't do it here tomorrow".

My mother was told off for hanging out a washing on a Sunday!

Funny you should say that. I'm one of those crazy individuals that actually read the fine print on their insurance policy, and mine says that engine damage (from component failure, including latent defects or faulty construction) is not covered if the engine wasn't serviced "by a specialist professional company" every 12 months. Of course that clause only applies for the first 5 years of a new engines lifetime, so my trusty old Volvo Perkins I can service myself (and thus know it's been done properly). But if it was a new engine, that would irk me a bit.

As for antifouling, I'm putting on coppercoat this year and once that's on the hull you can do what you want with your legislation (short of making me scrape it off again). :D
