Just been announce that BOOT show is going ahead despite the rise in Covid cases in Germany. All exhibitors and visitors must be fully vacinated and wear masks all the time, so tougher rules than Southampton Boat Show.

The German version of the news states that it is 2G rules (Geimpft oder Genesen - Vaccinated or Recovered) so it's not just vaccinated people that can attend.

With the current UK travel restrictions I can't see many making the trip to the mainland.

BTW , I notice that the attendance figures for SIBS this year was a total of 88,000 for the ten days of the show. Much better than many of us thought would happen.

It was pretty quiet when I attended, unlike previous years.

An average attendance of 8,800 per day is dire for a major show.

I had been thinking about going to Dusseldorf for the BOOT show, and the old town looks an interesting place for a short break. With current uncertainties, though, I'll hold off making any arrangements for the present.

As long as you're not driving, Düsseldorf is a nice city to visit, and if you get bored, Köln and Bonn aren't too far away.

If you're driving, it's hell on earth - all the major roads are underground, including the junctions - don't drive there relying on GPS.

Thanks for the tips. Flights from Aberdeen, near where I live, via Amsterdam seemed a good option, but like I say, it's all on hold for now.
And yes, I've been in Koln, lovely old city the cathedral especially.
