Bad luck Dave, after all the expense and hassle of last year I bet you were hoping, like i still am, for a relatively straightforward inexpensive year.

Re: Been there done that.

Spot on Fred. I remember you posting this site here a number of times previously, and the pearls of wisdom are to be revered. I have now book marked this site for future reference.

Just in case anyone is directly interested in riser problems, here is the relevent page from that site.

My knowledge of marine engines has just increased - thankfully!!

Interestingly, my motor showed no sign of overheating either. In fact, quite the opposite, the temp guage went down to almost the bottom scale. I can only put this down to the fact that fresh raw water was being sucked in and circulated and pumped out through the split hose at a fantastic rate, as the thermostat was effectively redundant.

Thanks Fred /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Sorry to here your misfortune, reminds me to take a look at mine.

Did the same job, manifolds & risers 3 years ago to my last boat.
Left the old manifolds on a bench in the workshop.
The scarry thing was, that when removed they were looking OK, it was after they dried out that I knew I had done the right thing by changing them.
They literally fell to pieces with corrosion, the iron walls of the waterpassages came away without effort untill there were holes into the exhaust passages everywhere.
Deffinitely change both manifolds & risers before it costs a new engine!!!!!!
Guess this is the only downside to having two engines /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
