Well, it couldn't happen to me.
My windlass is manual for a start, I wouldn't have a cat on the boat at any price and I wouldn't try to weigh anchor if SWMBO was otherwise engaged.
But lots of other stuff does go wrong regularly, and I think your story is an unrealistic and imaginery scenario.
