It’s windy

Just had a look at some of the Solent webcams, looks a bit breezy. Not a great day for boating unless you're a windsurfer perhaps. Keep safe people.

Was due to skipper a seatrial today I think we were right to call it off!
Tucked right in close to the shore in Hamble point but the boat is moving about quite a bit.
Saw f11 on bramblemet at one point now back down to f10.
Saw one of the cruise ships leaving last night wonder what trip they’re having.

So BBC news are saying there was a 109mph gust at the needles.
Is that credible?
(Cat 2 hurricane nearly cat 3, though maybe hurricane classification is sustained winds not gusts I don’t know )

I think that the wind speeds at the needles are distorted by the fact that they must speed up as they squeeze up over the cliff, maybe ?.

Apparently they evacuated the coast watch at the Needles Battery this morning when winds hit 110mph according to a local resident I know on another forum.

Wouldn’t have wanted to be up there today to be fair, no matter what the measured speed is. Who would they be watching out in this ?!!

Just been down to calshot with the dogs. Usual wind surfers there having a ball. Was windy for sure but eased a lot since 9 this morning when it was wild!

Absolutely not a day for me to be on the water!

Chimet was showing F11 gusting F12 for a few minutes around 10am.
Fortunately not high tide - the wind dropped substantially before it came up.

Been powerboating on the Clyde today and this evening. Lovely, no wind and enjoyed the fireworks displays.
