I have a well-insuklated cool-box on my Sovereign 32 - and are considering which fridge unit to fit. We are retiring next year and intending to cruise to France and Spain and ? in the next few years.
Am favouring the Isotherm ASU SP units (on silence and lower elec use grounds despite extra cost) and wonder if anyone has any experience to share please?

Can\'t help on what you list ....

But Thomas1 recently sailed on my boat and he brought on board a Cool-Box ... now he called it a Fridge .... Boy did that work !! He froze my beer in it....

OK it cost over £450 ... but sure enough it worked and didn't drag my batterys down like my Cool-box does .... which I have to say only cools what is already cold !

IMHO if the compressor is Danfoss (no connection with the company) AND You make correct electrical connections (Copper wire diameter and terminals) there is nothing better. If it is possible, check that the "fst connectors" or "sealed connectors" betwen the compressor and the copper pipes leading to the plate are of easy commercial availability: it might save You time and money in case of having to change them.
Cheers,
Gianenrico

I have have used an Isotherm self pumping fridge for 5 years during which time it has been working continuously for about 3 years ( while the boat was ashore in various places it was shut down). I have been VERY pleased with the system which was easy to install and uses little power even though I am using a modified ice icebox as fridge compartment in my Sadler 34.
Most of the time has been in the Caribbean where 2 X 30 watt solar panels and a Rutland 913 keep it running for 80% of time. Even when ashore (in Portugal and Caribbean) it has worked with no sea water cooling! It is quiet and efficient. No doubt the rival make with the same compressor is just as good. If as you say you have a well insulated ice box it should do you well.
Good luck.

Re: Isotherm ASU self-pumping refrigeration

I have a waecom and am extremely pleased with its performance. No solar panels yet and hot dayz tend to come with little wind so have to be careful with the power. I am sure once we add panels it too will be on permanently too.

Sited low in the port hull with plenty of air around the fins it seems to stay nice and cold, without too much drain on the battery.

I have the installed the Isotherm ASU very happy with the unit, need to get a supressor for FM radio as it distrupts signal the shipped unit can also be ajusted if 4degrees is not reached however they advise that u check ur insalation first as the adjustment may draw more amps from power soarce.
