Going there for my hols next week, managed to lose my pilot book covering the Scillies and I’m not sure if my replacement will arrive before I leave on this trip. Are there any online sites which will give me Isles of Scilly pilot information?

Thanks

Peter

Get in touch with Scillypete, a forumite on here. He was great at giving hints and instructions. You might even be persuaded to buy his pilot shipped to you 1st Class by tomorrow: it is a neat little pamphlet with great pics and useful essential information.

But, yes, do keep a good lookout

at this time there is nothing online that I know of and also at this time mine is the only pilotage book specifically for Scilly that is in print.
Although the close proximity of all the rocks make it seem daunting if you follow the transits within the guide you should not come to grief. As has been pointed out the water is clear so eyeball avoidance of the dangers is possible but a slow way of getting to and from some anchorages.

Was there StMartins/Tresco/St Marys 2 weeks ago for a couple of days, used Shell pilot book plus chart and chart plotter, pretty straight forward with a little care. Maybe someone will fax you the pages from the book, mine is on my boat unfortunately (96miles away).

I've PM'd you a possible solution, involving a friend of mine whose boat is in Whitehaven, and which does not involve breach of copyright.

Scillypete's pamphlet is certainly first class, and you could could even acquire that once you arrive.

Enjoi!

cm'on Pete put one on the "for sale" site! Your masterpiece is a tad below the £200 limit, so no one should complain...

He has the book (on the boat) - he's looking for some-one who also has the book to fax/e-mail him a couple of pages.

Where exactly is the copyright infringement? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I am afraid that really does sound like copyright infringement. Anyway, get a proper pilot from SP, better than any dodgy copies you will get form St Tom's wonderful pilot

It was a suggestion to fax and considering the fact that the reciprient was waiting for a copy which was paid for,I doubt "Sir Tom" would worry.
I take it that the "dodgy copies" would mean the quality of the paper copy and not a desciption of the worth of the books knowledge,as that would be libel.
Happy sailing.

Sounds the same to me, another of Guapa,s economies? go to St Mary,s and pick up a copy for less than a fortune.

.... I thought that's why he needed it; ...to get to St Mary's? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

If he can,t find his way to St Mary,s without that, perhaps he shoudn,t go at all eh? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Great place, just watch the rocks though. Not a good place to leave the boat if you need to get back to work either. On route from England/ Wales keep well off shore even though it won't seem right at the time.
