A tall order I know, but I have a friend who is doing a sponsored swim around the Isle of Wight in September 2010 and is looking for two boats to act as a food and rest point. Eight chaps are swimming for a charity to save a colleague’s young daughter who has cancer and needs continued treatment in the US, as the treatment isn’t available here. Seven of the chaps are serving Police officers of varied rank and one a Barrister. My friend, who is instigating this, will not fail! He is in his early 30’s, had 20 operations on his back as he was involved in a hit and run and ran over twice. He has since run 2 marathons. He then sustained a broken tib and fib fracture in an accident on a mountain and had to be air lifted off. He has now permanent ligament damage but still ran a marathon on crutches for this charity! It is a registered charity and I can give you full details of the charity and challenge if you think you may be able to help. He has had an offer of two RIBS so far.

Have you tried the IOW Yacht Clubs?

There are enough of them and if each one helped out you would have it solved.

We would love to help out ourselves but it is likely to be at or about the time of the Southampton Show and the HISWA SHow in Holland which would rule us out I am afraid.

Good luck with your endeavours.

Mike.
