As an owner I am always interested in the Marque, especially after the demise of the origonal Bob Johnson company.

Some on here are not fans of IP's as in light airs they sail like bricks.

Those that own them though appear very happy with their choice. The attributes of safe seakeeping and comfort afloat and alongside plus their undoubted quality and durability means happy owners.

Even as an owner I was unaware of how the company has been restructured since its financial collapse after the 2008 finacial meltdown and of the boats it has in the range. Just had an update, here it is. There are six models, one a fin keeler, all with the expected build IP quality.

They can be seen at:-

The new model is the 439.

Enjoy.

Or not.......................

IP are marmite boats. They’re either loved......or not.

I sail a Nauticat which invoke a similar marmite response.

The Dutchman who sold me the present Catalina replaced it with an IP. Promptly moaned about how slow it was in comparison. Think he regretted selling.

We sailed in company with a 46' IP a number of times. The boat has recently sold, and I can't say that it was my cup of tea, though the owner with a number of replacement leg joints and a late-to-sailing wife was happy enough. I can see that the solidity would appeal to some, though I find the styling bland in a Coca-cola sort of way, and there is a lot more plastic inside than I would expect in an expensive boat. I sailed on it a few times and didn't enjoy the high cockpit but it went well enough on a reach with enough wind, but not a lot faster than my 34-footer. The shallow draft was an advantage in some ways. The satellite telly was handy for the football-obsessed owner.
