There was a recent thread containing a link to a Dylan Keep turning left video presentation which I thought cut admirably through all of the posh stuff with a few laughs thrown in for good measure!
Here it is

one of the snags is that it is very hard to attach any advertising to what I do
old boat... no longer in production
old car, old bike, home built canoe
I bought a new outboard... I buy a lot of petrol....I buy rubbish food and boxes of wine
almost nothing that would attract display advertising
the main market for new boats is with the plus 30 footers
they are the only people who buy display adverts
one of the snags is that there are so many old immortal glass fibre hulls around
buying a boat is so cheap now
think of what £12,000 would buy you - an immaculate centaur as good, probably better nick than the day it popped out of the mold
no real need to make new sub 30 foot boats
the poor old mags have also lost the classified adverts to the web... free adverts on boat and outboards
the way we buy chandlery has changed
breaks my heart to contemplate what the future holds for magazines once our generation drops off our perches
I still love picking up a sailing magazine at a the beginning of a railway journey
I don't even have the excuse of taking along as a gift for my father in law anymore
I am not even sure how the online magazines can survive
