Ventured down to Cookham this weekend, going downstream like the clappers.

Came across this at Longridge, dont remember this pontoon before and certainly think I would have done as it sticks out halfway across the river. Sorry picture needs zoom really.

It was only tied up to the land with cheapo rope, so i think it must be new or perhaps temporary.?

Without any lighting some schmuck is going to smack into it methinks, if they can clout Henley bridge in these conditions, this is easier to hit as might not even see it and stream is particularly fast through this narrow part.

Anyways look out for it!!

i thought the smaller one in the background had always been used by Borlase as it has their training launches moored to it?

I saw this about 3 weeks ago. They had strung a line of buoys between the pontoons to give a safe area to canoe in and stop the youngsters being carried away downstream.

There in May.

we swept passed at the beginning of May, on our way to Holland.
2 outboard launches were struggling to tow the pontoon into position against the very strong current.
I too was very surprised that they had permission to obstruct so much of the river width.

No doubt Boatone can be relied on to give the full official story?
