Wherever I visit on the forum pages the past couple of days I keep getting this banner pop up every few seconds. Really beginning to annoy now.

Is this just me ? I have reported it on the website news page.

Looks like your adblocker isn't working, as you can tell by the forum being hardly visible for all the spam cluttering your browser. Install one and not only will that message disappear (a misconfiguration on the side of spammers), but your general browsing experience will also be much faster, safer, protect your privacy better and be far less annoying.

This one gets recommend often for Safari Mac users.

Yes the situation is bonkers.

I am quite happy to look at normal ads on the Internet. Thats how stuff gets paid for. Do most of my internet surfing on my phone.

I now have adblocker browser installed just for this forum as it is unusable without.

Bonkers.

Well, when I find the identity of the twat that is causing this annoyance he might have trouble operating a keyboard again !

Because of damage to his hands, or because it is hard to operate a keyboard lodged in your rectum?

The adverts on this forum are ridiculous, on my tablet I get about an inch of actual content without scrolling.

I have Adblocker Plus which works on other web pages/sites, but not here on YBW. It used to work before Microshaft upgraded(?) me to Windows10, against my express orders not to :disgust: -

Any advice on how to make Adblocker Plus work here again?

If the proprietors of ybw.com are resonsible for that junk (if it's not caused by some sort of virus/malware on the users' computers or the ybw web servers ) it's hard to see how they think it achieves any positive business purpose to irritate people with intrusive advertising that isn't even targeted accurately.

Irritating your customers to the point where they either (a) go away or (b) lock out all ads no matter how relevant and unintrusive they might be hardly looks like the action of a rational, normal business. Particularly one that wants to sell advertising on the promise that lots of readers will see it.

Like many ybw users, I use AdBlock Plus and other plugins to protect against ads, pop-ups etc, which together mean I never see any ads at all on ybw. For as long as I can remember, not a single one. Zilch. Which is fine for me but doesn't bode well for the future of the business if more and more readers take the same action.

Yes it does, but not in Edge.

Edge being what? Since Windows10 imposed itself I find all sorts of screens and drop downs that I don't really know what I'm doing.
I'd prefer to have stayed with the old system which worked well enough for me.

Yes it does, but you need to download an "extension" from the Windows Store... I've been using it since it was enabled in Anniversary Update

Confusing!! Do I do this in the AdBlocker screen, or some part of the infernal Microshaft jungle?
I'm always extremely wary of "clicking" on instructions or downloading things which (to be honest) I know zilch about.

>Apparently it doesn't work on Windows10. That's what "came up" when I tried to run it.

I always used Internet Explorer but when Edge came along I hated it so I switched to Firefox where a pop up blocker does work.

You'll have guessed I'm a cowardly numpty with computers (in fact all things electronic!). Your advice sounds appealing and encouraging - how do I do it, please? And is there a danger I will screw-up everything else, lose files/programmes etc and find myself trekking 70 miles to Inverness Computers with a sheepish face?
