Is this hot weather getting you down. ?

Agreed. I'm fed up with it now. It's not natural and I much prefer temperatures in the low teens and horizontal rain at this time of year. In any case, fine weather brings out the very worst in the British male's dress sense. If I had a quid for every time I've seen some underdressed male wondering through our town centre in recent days and me thinking put it away, I'd be quite rich

more, more, MORE !!!!!!!............ of the GOOOOOOOD weather especially when i go boating for the week at bankholl time !!!!!................ (rain ??....MY AR*E!!!!!)

Didn't they say May was going to be **** weather?

And you believed them?? :):) They only check a bit of seaweed for those long range forecasts :D No hang on, if they did that they'd be more accurate.....

I'm just hoping that the bank holiday week brings at least reasonable weather, i.e. not too windy, warm with some sunshine as we have a 9 days on the boat :D

Typical - we have been waiting for 6 weeks for a few days of good weather to manifest itself so we can have a trip somewhere on the boat. Then the good weather arrives in a week when we really can't get away - although we did an emergency dash down there today to fix a couple of problems.

Hope the hot Weather last till Friday, out on the boat at Torquay
again for day, hopefully taking the kids to see the golden hind at Brixham, have orderd a new binimi cover for the boat wish it was here think i may need it:cool:

Just sat on the back of Seadweller in Chi Marina and it is blisteringly hot:D. Long may it last

Just need the wind to drop a bit though so we can get underway to Brighton

May

7 of my Koi Carp have died in two days :(

Fountains on and lots of spray on the surface but they dropped like flies, 3 were nearly 2ft long.

Sorry to hear that, what did you do in previous years, or is this new set-up. I'm having a similar problem with my aquariums, difficult to keep the temp down and so have increased aeration to get more oxygen.

Unusually we seem to have achieved some synergy between the weather and time off work. Only thing on the east cast is wind....currently sitting on the boat listening to it blowing a right old hooley. Now marina bound with high wind warnings is very familiar....

Sorry for the thread drift.

Hot weather can kill koi in a number of ways, the most common of which is oxygen deprivation due to the reduced oxygen levels in the pond. Shading a pond and keeping the water well-circulated go a long way in keeping your koi cool, and alive. It is recommended therefore, to have an extra air pump or two to aid in oxygenating your pond during summer. Adding water or spraying will not give the extra oxygen needed.

Low oxygen levels can also hamper your biological filtration(if used), since good bacteria need oxygen. As such, it would be a good idea to check your water parameters more frequently during hot summer days, just to ensure that the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels are not getting out of control without you knowing it.

Hope this helps.
