Is there any way of knowing if Felixstowe is closed and trucks are stacking?

If Felixstowe port is closed they park trucks up on the old A14 on the way to SYH, which means either a detour through Trimley and past the temptation of Seamark Nunn, or though the winding pretty lanes by the Orwell.

Obviously you know when you get there: Highways Agency officers, flashing lights, and wall to wall trucks, but is there any way of knowing before you set off? Do they put it on the web anywhere? I suppose you could listen to Radio Suffolk, but you may die of boredom before they made the announcement.

The Port of Felixstowe site is exactly what I was after. Shame on me for not finding it.

It also allows registration, on a form which incidentally is a model of simplicity and good design, that will send alerts direct to email (and hence to phone...)
