It strikes me that we never know how close we may be to other users of Scuttlebug. Although some of have AIS transmitters, many do not.
Would it be nice to make a group such as "Greece" or "Adriatic" that would allow one to see where others in the group are?
Would there be any interest in this? Is it worth trying ReachingSoon (https://www.reachingsoon.com/) which I have just discovered?? It has an app for android and works on iPhones from the browser.

One of the clubs I belong to runs a couple of (private) Facebook pages. One is for chat and the other for specifically cruising stuff and no photos in case people are accessing with limited or expensive bandwidth. This works very well for the most part, and a number of meetings have been assisted. If someone with enough energy wants to start a Scuttle-page, it could work.

Someone (younger than me) told me there's an app game where (pretend) zombies appear on the (real life) map near you and you have to avoid them by routing yourself round them in order to get home or wherever you're going. A bit like the forum, really. Zombies everywhere, ready to regale you with anchor curses and to tell you that they know all about everything in earth, sea and sky and that you know nothing.

So having an app to tell you when and where forumites might cross your path would be great, particularly if you we could mark them with green for friendly, helpful ones and red for opinionated know-it-alls.

ActiveCaptain, I think, has this sort of capability. It should be possible to set up a group to represent YBW contributors and could then be used to show proximity but individuals need (free) registration first then be joined to the YBW group

Ghastly idea, to think that others perception of me could be proved right.
