Dead quick question.

I want to clean up an excess of gunge/filler round my cabin windows. I will scrape most of it off with a plastic spatula. But I will need to clean the rest off with a solvent of some kind.

I reckon 'turps substitute' would be adequate but is it safe to use on Acrylic windows??

TIA,

Rob.

Yes.

It might not get off what you want to get off however . Whatever happens don't use Acetone!

The turps sub. or white spirit will more than likely work or act as a lubricant for a plastic scraper. When you've finished, use a good car polish to finish the job.

Meths is OK, probably white spirit, diesel etc, but most solvents will cause stress cracking of the plastic.
My wife cracked a laminated windscreen on a Fiesta, by glueing back the rear view mirror with superglue.

be carefull of meths if the screen is bowed. meths attacks the acrilic and leaves it with thousancds of tiny cracks. i used to be a perspex worker in a sign shop. white spirit is ok as is turps, the latter is better. or a good cleaner like tesco orange.
