Is the Victron shore power inlet any good?

I am looking to upgrade my shore power from the open 16A inlet I have today where easily can get in. Victron have this inlet with IP56 rating with a hatch that closes when not in use. having that one installed would enable me to use their shore power cable which is also IP56! I have many times had problems connecting to shore power because of water and moist in the sockets of the shore cable and adaptors. Rusted up wires in and there and what not. Would very much like to take some precautions to avoid those problems in the future.

My isloation transformer can only handle 16A(3600kva) but I am considering going for the 32A inlet so I can use the 32A cable that has 3x6mm2 wires, which would enable me to use long stretches of cable with minimal voltage drop.

So does anyone have good experiences with these victron products? Is there other products out there that are more watertight and durable?

I like Victron products, but these connectors are silly money, IMO.

Ratio product appear identical to me Marine: Shore Power - Products

I have fitted several of these, including to my current and previous boats. They are good quality and i have tested them for water tightness with a hose, both plugged in and not plugged in.

I would caution against using 32a connectors if you systems cannot cope with 32a. You would need a very long cable to need to be concerned by voltage drop at 16a x 240v. If you do decide to go with 32a, ensure that onboard current protection is in place to ensure no more than 16a can be drawn.

I installed a Victron Energy Blue Smart IP22 Charger 12V 30A 1 Output unit in September 2022. Working as advertised.

You don't state what boat you have or power needs, but I have seen very few 32 amp power supplies in UK marinas.

Weird, every UK marina I've been to has had them on the larger berths. I even keep a 32A to 16A cable on the boat just in case I need to connect to one when there isn't a 16A socket on the pontoon. Used it loads of times.

My old boat was 20 feet. When I stayed at Berthon the pontoon was 6 inches above deck height. The beauty of small boats is they fit into small and large berths. Large boats only fit into large berths.

16amp is very much the norm where ever we go, the odd 32amp for use by the big boys but not often on visitor moorings
