Did EA's contractors finish their work on time as 'advertised' in the closures notice?
I'm hoping that 'locals' may have some news / insight.
Interested in Marlow down to Shepperton.

Went through Penton Hook, it’s open but the tail gates are very slow, still lots of heavy equipment around it and contractors doing finishing touches. Romney opened a few days ago. Haven’t been above Windsor so don’t know about the rest.

Confirmed with EA this morning that all Thames locks should now be available for transit with possible exception of Blakes which may be passable by arrangement.
Just no water points or pumpouts, oh and a few lockies doing disappearing acts. Business as usual then

Talking of water points, Cleeve. It has been months since...
  • We are replacing the water point at Cleeve Lock, it is currently unavailable whilst the replacement works are carried out.
Is it available? I had heard it was and am more inclined to believe my source than the website.

Edited to add: It is NOT available, the website is correct. Fencing around the water point and supply off. A friend just phoned which saved a lot of hassle for me. What a farce.

You, in fact all of us, are right to be concerned. My understanding is that the new installation has failed to deliver.

A "proof of concept" should have been done off site first. Build it, break it, fix it... Then rolled out with all the issues addressed.

Second year now....failed to deliver indeed.

Heads would roll in the private sector.

Sorry, rant over. I had to pay a fiver to fill at LeBoat Benson!

Temple to below Bray today. All locks open. There are works on the house side of the lock at Bray and some water based plant around but the lock is open.

Lock keepers present at temple, Marlow. Cookham and Bray. It was lunch so I missed Ralph at Boulters.

The River is lovely. Best thing since bread never mind the sliced stuff ;)

In a very real way.

Came back from Windsor to Penton Hook on monday. Lockies everywhere except Penton Hook. Still bit of a building site at Penton Hook, real obstacle course to get out due to obstacles in the tail lock cut. Great being back on the river.

My boat came down fro Temple to Shepperton yesterday - in the sun and warm - hooray and all the locks were passable, but then Real Thames Boaters are used to the occasional challenge.....
Still a thing of the past as we've given up boating as of yesterday. Just as well - it's tipping it down here in Sussex.

You should have put some fuel in at the same time, they wouldn’t have charged you for water then.

Fortnight out now and it is very quiet still. Only seen say a dozen canal boats and early hirers and only one cruiser moving ....that is between Abingdon and Cleeve.

It is lovely to be off the winter mooring and moving again.
