With the price of coal soaring are you going out less these days and staying put in the marina?

Well when was the last time you saw one out and about :)

I met this old boy whilst having a cheeky drink in the Island Harbour Yacht club a few weeks ago. A mine of information about steam, early flight and so on. What a guy to share a long journey with and what piece of kit.

Henry :)

That's made my day Henry, great pics as always.

Robin, if you want to see a good selection of steamboats then make sure you come to Dart regatta, they moor up to the Dart yacht club pontoon. Normally a very impressive collection, including one made and run by a mate of mine from Exmouth.

Hi John, I must confess I haven't done the Dartmouth Regatta for about 15 years so overdue I guess  It got so congested by road that it was best avoided, but almost came around with the boat last year. Perhaps this time we will - although no less busy on the water from what I remember! For the the Red Arrows has to be the ultimate location...

I have a photo somewhere of the paddle steamer that used to do Babbacombe Bay - not sure where it came from, but been in the family for years!

How's the Isles of Scilly - you got there quick :)

Yes only took two weeks! It's fabulous as always. Collected a bucket of clams and cockles on Tresco flats at low water, they are huge compared to what I get in Exmouth. Now purging overnight ready to to in a stew tomorrow. Had to make do with scallops from the freezer tonight. It's tough!
