just to report back on how I got on...
i had Tcut in stock so I gave it a go- principally at removing scuff marks. Reasonably effective but by concentrating on areas where there were scuff marks and leaving other areas not quite untouched but not subject to the same degree of rubbing, looking at the worked surface some days afterwards, despite my efforts, I considered the result patchy. Local chandlery recommended an acid based cleaner which is brushed on and hosed off some short while later - much better results with much less effort. Complete removal of all yellow staining and oxidised surface. No real difference with scuff marks. I am now going over the hull with wet sandpaper 600 grit and am pleased with the smooth clean surface emerging.
After all of the above, I would not recommend Tcut as a general cleaner for gel coat - It may be good for an isolated mark/stain and as noted in a previous post may work better with painted hulls. My twopence hal'penny worth.
