IS MBM BECOMING BORING?

Re: takes all sorts.

best thing about boating in all its forms is that there is something for eveyone at both ends of scale.it also enables you you have a good a pop at people who have different boaty interests from you and when that novelty wears off we can all have a go at the raggies.

My wife reckons I spend to much time on here.

I am fed up with buying mbm and mby both have the same articles in.
I read yachting monthly now or PBO there is more to interest me, on places and stories.

I generally find old boating magazines more interesting than the current ones.

Solution: Subscribe to a magazine and when it arrives leave it on a pile by the bedside cabinet for a few months and then read it. It will have loads stuff in by then which is absorbing and interesting and stuff.

Problem: Her Indoors complains of the piles of junk on the floor under the bed etc. - Just have to pursuade IPC or whoever to store subscription magazines and deliver them 10 months late.

Just an idea.

Re: How about this month MBY?

SO by the same token, Car Magazine should stop printing all these articles on Ferraris, Porsches etc and just concentrate on Nissan Micras and Ford Fiasco's? After all, thats what the vast majority can afford. What a riveting read that would be!

Does it not occur to you that a lot of people like to read test reports on Fleming 75's and Princess V65's because they'll never in reality get a chance of a go themselves and they want to know what it's like?

Its called having an interest, otherwise we'ed all buy What Fridge cos we might want a new fridge one day so its realistic to our budget/plans....

Re: How about this month MBY? Ari

I too enjoy reading about such boats, looking at the sepc and sumptuous interiors etc all dreamy stuff, but
the point I'm making is that the largest proportion of MBY tests are for such exotic machinery well beyond the
means of most of us. How about more articles on boats under £1m a bit more down to earth maybe

Re: How about this month MBY? Ari

Fair comment., it does stagger me some of the boats that they don't test, mainstream family stuff from Fairline and such like.

Going back to the Car Magazine analogy, a bit like Ford finally replacing the Escort with the new Focus, and Car Magazine not bothering to test it...

But then don't get me started on boat tests!

"It was flat calm when we went out, but we crossed the photgraphers RIB wake a couple of times and it seemed OK so probably a good sea boat. We did go jolly fast though and the manufacturer takes loads of advertising space in MBY...."

Damn my cynical side! <BG>

I have been reading MBM for a number of years now and I do feel its getting quite boring! However after having said that I enjoyed this months mag, it has some good articles in it. I guess its difficult to keep your regular readers happy all the time!

I am in the Market Research world and I think they should carry out some focus groups among readers? Come on Kim and Co! give me a call and I will help you sort it out!
