is laying down on a boat a thing of the past

I,ve just upgraded my boat from a lovely older princess (where everything is at 90degrees) to a very modern rodman38,why is it these days that all seats are rounded, its impossible to lay out any more, The new boat is beautiful in so many ways but these seats!! Even the seating in the stearn is "trendy", Where is your head supposed to lie, at a twisted angle? most new boats are like this now,but sitting in a circle is not always what you want, small gripe but b....y annoying

Strange. I find it the other way around. Older boats more rounded seating, newer...more straight lines. It's the main reason I love our Sealine coz of the straight lines and space to spread out.

Rodman 38 is a lovely boat, but a 10 year old design, most modern boats have squared seating.

yes this is one thing I don't like my s37 so am selling it, looked at a targa 43 now gone of them because of this reason I want a cockpit area I can relax in for a few hrs seems like the sc35 and sc38 are right up my market after todays browsing

doesnt the T43 have a sodding great sunpad over the garage you can lay on?

It does, but all the seating on the T43 is curved, so you can't stretch out on the seats (like you can on a T40...).

Hmm, I know what you mean. I had plans to tear out our seating and replace it with something squarer with a corner into which I could lay without cricking my back. I sound like an old fart!

correct you don't always want to lie on the back sun loungers, its nice to lie on a square seat with a back rest if reading etc etc and if on the sun loungers I don't think its sociable with others on your boat like on a targa 40 or tatga 44 for example

The curved seating areas really are not comfy for chilling out like a square area is you just end up with a crick neck

One of my pet hates...curved seating is a complete pain. Other thing is the number of boats with seats that aren't deep enough to be comfortable......done that way to look good/in proportion but very uncomfortable. One if the reasons we went for our Broom 41 was the truly huge cockpit with deep comfortable seats and plenty of loafing space.

Our Snazi has a curved seat on the fly, and sun pads to lie out on! The saloon settees allows both of us to recline comfortably.

It's why I kept my P35, we could both lay down and watch the TV. Never found anything else worth swapping for.
