I'm surprised at the number of people who've had problems with their Icom radios - I always thought Icom were a decent make, on a par with Standard Horizon.
They are better than SH... there is one handheld (m33) that has a fault. The customer service I received (for 3 different radio sets) means I will never buy a different VHF make.
Well out of warranty (might be 12 years old -ish) but barely used, my Icom sends but doesn't receive. I think it is an M33 or something. I know new ones are under a £100. Is it worth contacting Icom? Recommendations for repairer in Brighton or Portsmouth area? Cheers Dave
Let us know how you get on Dave. If they fix a 12 year old radio I will be impressed.
If they fix it for nothing I will never consider any other brand!
ICOM have a reputation for 1st class support across all their range, aviation, ham radio and marine etc and have for many years
The display with my main unit packed up. Rang them up and explained the problem. They repaired it for a small fee whilst I waited and also updated the software. Most impressed with service and the person who did it. I'm also finding Raymarine technical help very good with their products.
That's a giant leap forward for Raymarine then, they have historically been less than useful.
Big shakeup after being acquired by FLIR, I imagine.
