Is it worth epoxying a sound GRP hull, or is it just fashion?

No not you personally
The subject - inaction of water and grp and what to do ( if any ) is full of “ frog research “
Hence the divergent and various approaches to diagnosis and treatment of the same condition, back up by “ research/ evidence “
Mmm... If your comment wasn't referred specifically to what I wrote, it sure looked like it was.
Anyway, I fully agree that you can find plenty of silly theories on this topic, as well as on many others.
The first line of your post #30 was a good example imho, as jfm pointed out in his very effective and synthetic reply, and PYB expanded further.

No worries anyway, separating wheat from chaff is hard work in these days of information overload, and that's something all of us must live with.
I humbly try to do my best, and sometimes (albeit not always!) the forum has been useful in this respect - hence this thread.
So, if you have any specific reason to argue against what I wrote, I'm all ears.
Otherwise, well, nothing wrong with reminding us all that the internet is full of BS... I guess.

Here's a frog theory. You said the bubbles were along the spray rails. Mine, a old boat, shows most wear damage along the bow chines and spray rails. I'm guessing that's where I'm hitting small floating objects and assorted flotsam and where I imagine there is also a lot of cavitation effects / damage there. If you are convinced it's not osmosis it may well just be wear and tear. Possibly not helped by blasting.

P, was chatting with Jez on my way home this evening and the topic of CC came up. He pointed out that CC is actually suspended in epoxy so therefore (surely) it makes no sense to epoxy the hull first.
Thanks P, that was already clarified, in the meantime.
The only (minor) doubt is about whether to use a vynilester filler or stick to epoxy for covering the tiny blister marks before CC-ing the hull.
I'm exchanging a few thoughts also with Rafiki on this matter (thanks again P!), and I'm thinking to post more details about the job and the final result in due course.
It'll take a while though, 'cause the boat is going to stay sheltered till at least the end of Apr anyway.
In fact, more than likely Rafiki's job will be completed well before mine! :encouragement:

I am at the mercy of the weather P, awaiting a few days when the ambient crawls over the 10c point. However, Rafiki is ready for the CC application, and we will be “good to go” :encouragement:
