Well, the weather forecast is looking good on the south coast. Free flow times at Chi look good too all over the weekend.

I had written this weekend off as rainy/windy but now looking okay.

So, is it too early to get excited or should I leave it until Friday to start booking another marina to visit? :)

Nope not at all....

Just make sure you have something to do on Monday in the queue coming back in....:D

How have you managed to find a good weather forecast?

We were supposed to be going to Wells next the sea again this weekend (arrive Sunday leave monday back to work wednesday) but the wave height predictions have put a stop to that.

1.5m at 7 sec intervals on Sunday, which is only slightly worse than we had last time we went so wouldnt be too bad. However monday they are predicting upto 4.0m at 5 second interval waves for the area!!!!

I aint going out in that. Looks like we will just be going along the coast and back to Boston on sunday.

Looked at the beeb plus passageweather.com. Wave heights <1 metre in the Solent.

Wind currently not looking too bad on Saturday & Monday, but Sunday looking a bit blowy.

Weather forecast on TV last night suggested a washout & a stay at home weekend.

Anyway, we'll be down 'cos I need to fix the fridge that Mrs Q broke on Monday, but that's another story.

Ricky, I've still got "that CD" onboard for you.

Hi Questor,

I haven't forgotten just not spent any time at the marina recently. Will pop round to you if we do end up going to the boat. :D

I think you'll find the winds will be too strong and the sea state much to rough to go anywhere on the coast this weekend. Thurs/Fri are predicted to be pretty strong N/E, which is a deff no go. Winds veering to W on Sat, but the N/E swell most likely won't have fully decayed, so likely to be pants. Sun/Mon F7/8.

If i was still based in The Wash, i'd be planning something that didn't involve the boat for this weekend.

We have found this site

http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=354

to be fairly reliable for wave height predictions and wind speed predictions.

Failing that and if the weather is so bad we will have a run to the end of the Witham and back then find a good pub in Boston and drink the weekend away. Either way we are going away on the boat and a pub in Boston will make a change to The Pyewipe Inn, Lincoln.

Should add its an early morning tide on Sunday as well (7.15am), the wind isnt forecast to pick up until later in the day. With the way things are looking we will go out on a 4 hour tide and aim to be back before the sea picks up too much.

Not used Windguru much, i tend to use http://www.xcweather.co.uk/GB/forecast

Mostly seems about right.

As you're inland, you have the chance to use the boat anyway, when we were in The Wash, there really wasn't anywhere much to go, although i suppose we could also have gone inland. You might be OK for a trip out into The Wash on Saturday. How about a trip down The Nene and overnight at Wisbech ? Maybe not the most salubrious of destinations, but the marina isn't amiss. Best phone ahead if you plan to visit at a weekend, as the place isn't manned 24/7 and you'll be trapped in the marina without knowing the gate code to get back in.

We wont be setting off until Friday evening and it will be a late finish for us to get to Bardney where we are meeting up with the others (possibly 10-10.30pm) We dont expect to get to Boston while about 3.00pm or later on saturday as i suspect there will be at stop at The Packet Inn, Dogdyke, on the cards. Sunday really is the earliest we can get out onto the Wash.

If it doesnt happen, it doesnt happen. We will still have a good time regardless of what the weather throws at us. Boston isnt so bad as towns go.

I think it is too early yet, this time last week I thought there was a window for the Bournemouth Airshow but that all changed by Friday's forecast etc.

Not been out for the last few weekends because of the weather etc, so at the moment checking the weather probably like you regularly in the hope at least there is one good day, which looks like Saturday at the moment for the Solent.

bloody weather. Im stuck in Pampol with severe weather warning for today and Thursday. The quicker the low moves across the happier I shallbe as I have to be home for MOnday.

Hoping it will be OK for Sunday for the Cowes - Torquay - Cowes powerboat do. Planning to head for the needles for a good view of them coming back. I gather they're starting in Christchurch Bay this year.

clicky

sod it..

I had last Monday off so a long weekend, I think we were one of the few Mobo mad enough to go out last Saturday, Sunday and certainly we didn't see another Mobo apart from Solent HM's pilot boat last Monday. Certainly we had the worst weather of any weekend we had ever had on our Hardy, interesting to see how she handled herself surfing down the waves... a lot of fun but we were blown all over the Solent, some big waves around....

Anyway... this weekend, forecast great... but going to NYC until Wednesday, nice of course. But the forecast is pretty damn good for a BH weekend in Blightly.... better not tell SWMBO i'd rather be on the boat!!

Wind!

We did go yesterday in the end though it was windy with the sea moderate.

Sitting in Port Solent and the boat is really jumping around in gusty winds. Fingers crossed it is better tomorrow to get home.
