I noticed the sheave had warn flat on one side. It seems to be a sealed unit. It looks like I have to replace the whole car. Does anyone know if the part is replaceable and where to buy the parts from?

I would be grateful for a link to buy the unit or the parts for repair.

Thanks

Most blocks, it's possible to knock the pin out and replace the sheave. Best ask the manufacturer though (Lewmar?).

However, the damage seems to imply that the bearing surface or the bearings themselves are shot so it might be less trouble to replace the whole thing.

Yes, its Lewmar. I have looked on the web site and it seems I have to buy the whole thing. I was hoping to buy the pulley block only but it seems not possible.

Expensive replacement!

Looks like one of my 'cars'. I would try ringing lewmar as they don't seem to list all the spares imho. I would try to get a sheave and then knock the pin out and replace with a s/s 'bolt' - the type with a smooth shank.
