I fekking sick and tired of boat yards always quoting for any work net of VAT. Why can’t they just quote an all-inclusive figure and stick to it; least wise we all know where we stand. I always ask and they always look dumbfounded and mutter “it’s unusual…not done that way” etc. Then when the bill arrives, the figures always bang on the quote (never under) and on goes the VAT! Fek! Just wait until we go into Euros..another chance for a “legitimate” price hike sting.

In France it is required by law ( unless quoting between commercial entities liable to VAT) to quote prices with tax when dealing with the public.
