And highly regarded in the ham world. When I did the exams a couple of years ago all the club guys had one.
Highly regarded due to their very low cost!!!! Certainly not their abilities as a radio or the build quality.
Unfortunately they are quite deaf and have very poor frequency rejection on receive. Their transmitted RF is also very messy with many out of band 'sproggies'. They claim a 12.5khz channel separation, but in reality achieve nothing close. Generally wiping out at least 2 channels either side.
Their ability to receive a week signal or transmit a clean, on frequency transmission is no where even close to that of a 1980's Yaseu or Icom hand held amateur dual band radio.
