I think the reason Byron is finding the forum so quiet is that the new format is a huge step backwards in the general user friendliness area.
I'm sure it has all sorts of techie things that the previous one didn't, but then I only use 10% of what my PC can actually provide.
All I really want to do is see new threads in chronological sequence (that's by date Byron!!) and it was nice to see the number of new threads since I last looked.
I have tried every drop down box to try and find this to no avail.
Very boring!!

You can use the 'New posts' link at the top of the forum to see all new posts since your last visits. It is possible to change the order in which threads are shown but it's not remembering individual user settings at the moment, something we're working on amongst a number of design/functionality changes.

I would tend to agree with you Mike. I don't find the new software very easy to use at all, but I do keep finding new things so maybe most of it is there somewhere. I do miss the old Index Button as a way of navigating though.

Can we pleeez have the "INDEX^" button back that was at the BOTTOM of the page?

I like to have zillions of messages on one page and once I have read the whole thread go back to the forum index again.

Otherwise, I like it....but then I earn my living with this kind of stuff!!!

Index button?

Not sure I know what index button you guys are referring to (guess I never used it). If I want to go back to the thread index, I just click on the headings at the top of the page, which I think have always been there.

Must admit I browse in a different way to you though Apollo - I tend to go to the index page, then open each thread that looks interesting in a new tab (usually means I have dozens of the things open at once). Then I work my way along the list of tabs, closing each one when I've finished reading it, which leaves me back at the index page where I started - works for me! Its a habit I picked up while on dialup, you open lots of threads at once and they can be downloading (slowly) in the background while you read the first couple.

Have to admit that I don't like the look and feel of the new forum though, which is why I've only bothered to long in a couple of times since the changeover - hopefully it will grow on me though...

Darren.
