Yesterday I had an offer on the boat which I accepted.
This morning the buyer has said no and wants to buy a different boat from the same broker.

I am told this is common practice......

When we bought we had to pay a deposit while we were at the brokers office when the offer was accepted which i understood to be the norm.

Having said that, based on experience, nothing surprises me as far as brokers are concerned.

Sorry to hear it, i'm sure the right person will come along soon.

Maybe it wasn't a firm offer, just a " would the seller accept £X " if answer yes then " ok I'll get back to you tommorrow " frustrating but normal.

I was busy at sea on saturday when the broker originally called and left a message saying he had a firm offer.
"If I had answered the call the buyer would have paid a deposit there and then"
I was told yesterday........

Beginning to think the guy at the broker is avin a larf

Might not have been having a laugh, because if it is the chap we think it is, he has bought a very nice S28 instead for more money than your S29.

I can beat that!

Had a guy make an offer from Sweden which I accepted after several rounds of negotiating the price. He spoke to a chap to have a bespoke trailer made here in the UK.
He flew over at the second attempt because of BA strike, had a sea trial and all went well, thought the deal was done but he went back to Sweden and bought another ( different ) boat!

However a week later another Swede bought the boat unseen and I am now a happy chappie!!:):)

So, just hang in there and it will happen soon.;)

Quite common I'm afraid. I accepted 2 so-called firm offers on my boat which were later rescinded before I eventually sold my last boat. I think there are certain buyers out there who make several offers on boats and then decide on which one to go with at their leisure. I dont think you can blame the broker in your case. He cant take a deposit from a buyer before the seller confirms that he accepts the offer

I accepted an offer on ( via a broker ) for my diesel Fletcher 19 and agreed to a sea trial without a deposit. Sea trial went well , buyers promises to coff up within a week . One week passes and buyer pulls out due to illness.

Moral : NO SEA TRIAL WITHOUT DEPOSIT !

you have to be brave to do this

dont accept the offer straight away
perhaps make a counter offer that is a bit higher or excludes something
in other words dont appear too eager
this weeds the messers out somewhat
also some peeps do not like the first offer accepted too easy, they then think they could have bought for less and they go off the boil

why not price the boat at what you will accept, you probably will arrive there anyway, make it fixed price, no offers, if it is priced correctly the only peeps you will put off are the fender kickers.

Almost impossible to achieve i'm afraid. No matter what you ask, they will expect something off. Even if you put "bargain price, STRICTLY NO OFFERS" in the ad, everyone will expect some off and many will walk away on principal if they don't get any off.

Have just noticed that the OP has added some pictures of the boat in action to the brokerage sales sheets. She looks good on those. Im sure they will help your cause. Keep having a dig at the sales team to really push the advertising on her, at the minute the ad is easily lost amongst the others on the sales board, especially as she has been for sale for so long.

Thanks CX

Adam Cox asked for the running shot last night.
I wasnt aware they had used it immediately.
One of my thoughts to them was the main image was the same old tired one that had been on their site for 2 1/2years.....so its been changed.
She has been for sale for so long because I was going to upgrade if I got the price I wanted. It never happened and she is now for sale at a very good price.....even if the carpet needs vacuming.....
