Is French Med cheaper than Greece?

Looking at Navily it looks as though there are plenty of locations to anchor - is it easy enough to tuck away from wind and swell? And marinas seem to be relatively cheap - is that the case?

We plan to do early and late seasons this year in the south of France and just wondering what the general view of the area is.

Kinda unrelated but my favorite place was Norway - it's 5-10 euros a night to tie the boat, plenty of marinas/docks, (especially towards the north) free water/electricity. The payment? The honor system - there is a machine that you pay, but nobody haunts you for you to pay.

Yes, plan is Baltic from 2026. This year, finish off the Med.

Early and late season are the best time.

July/August are extortionately expensive.
"Free" anchorages are fewer and fewer every year - protection of sea-grass
So, you get herded to paying moorings (also not cheap).
Where might we haul out over the summer?

Port Leucate is also a good place for summer haul out.
It is also one of the cheapest ports in the Med and is not far from Perpignan and Beziers airports.

The reason it is cheap is for the same reason they regularly hold the world wind surfing championships there.
It is always blowing a gale or more.

A fair number of reasonably priced (and a couple of unreasonably priced) restaurants around the port.
