Ipswich-Rotterdam ferry route cancelled

Having just brought those impressively large ships into service, it appears that the route is going to be axed;

There were 'rumours' in Ostend that the Port of Ostend have proposed a very attractive deal (undercutting Rotterdam) to Cobelfret to reinstate the Ostend-Ipswich route.
The work in the port needed to handle these ships has all but completed and the port needs the traffic.
So, I would not be too surprised to see these ships re-appear on a new Ipswich-Ostend line in the not too distant future.

I, for one, am all in favour. It would make navigation a lot easier. Now I could find myself in Rotterdam by mistake.

we on a trip to Helevtsluis saw the HSS Discovery 3 times ( trips) our nav was spot-on

It looks like the ships are going to be transfered to the Harwich-Rotterdam service run by Stena. The last Ipswich to Rotterdam run is reportedly going to be today.

i watched the Severine leaving last night, Ipswich port control thanked the skipper for their trade & wished them well
