I would like to hear from anyone with firsthand experience of the Volvo match with the IPS drives.

I'm looking at Cranchi 43 Mediterreans and this is the standard engine fit with the result and gearbox.

The first thing that always comes up with IPS is service costs and breakdown costs. I'd look into this before you decide especially if they need a rebuild with clutches , oil pumps , valves etc.

My 600 IPS pod and engine service comes in at around 2k per year....5 year service is probably going to be around double that from what I can gather...

No problems with the set up at all this far, but only 200 hours in.

Should be plenty of power for the 43....

We have an MC5 with IPS 600, currently 60 hours and based in Sant Carles de La Rapita. In the main Guy has skippered and his views are that it is sensitive but responsive, does what you want, goes where you ask it to. Brilliant for mooring and anchoring(obviously) and, if you don't go for 'Virtual Anchor' dead easy to stay in one position as we discovered in the Super yacht basin in Port Vell where we waited ages to be assigned a berth.
Our first service came in at 193 Euros with a clean bill of health(yet again brilliant Volvo service, this time from Angel Cornet's team in SC)
For fiddling around in BSM Marina it is perfect!
Good Luck
Sam and Guy
