Ahh! At last a post I can answer with some authourity!

No. You have to convert the CD to .mpg format and this can only be done by the computer.

Solution - get another hard drive..... not too expensive these days.

Can't you just delete the music once it's been transferred onto the ipod ?

Yes, I had the same dilemer, like Pauline said, delete it after you have copied it across.

Note COPY it across, do not use Sync, if you use Sync you need to keep the structure on your PC, othewise the ones you removed off the PC will then be removed off the IPod.

To copy in Musicmatch, just drag and drop the tunes from the play list to the IPod list.

Only downside, if the Ipod does corrupt and you need to reset to factory, you will lose all the conversions you have done. /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

I would do it this way

Archive 2-3Gb of files on your PC to CD's. This will give you some working space.
Use MusicMatch to convert your music CD's to Mp3 on your Hard drive (It is available free via download)
Copy the Mp3 files to the IPod
Move the Mp3 files from your Hard drive to CD's (You get approx 13 mucic CD'd on 1 CD in this format). This means that if ever your Ipod goes T*ts up you already have the music in Mp3 format for reloading.

Hope this helps

My wife and i looked at a very Nice Doral, at the boat show on monday.
And i guess, it is yours.

Lovely Boat.

I hope they paid you well, for letting them use your new pride and joy?

Cheers.

Ours is the only one with the all white hull, and non teaked platform (although this will be done after the show).
Discount was worth an extra 5%, and any damage is repaired before handover.
Thanks for the kind comments regarding our new baby.

I was about to buy an iRiver iHP-120. It seemed a deal in the AMP web site but frankly I don't know what I should be looking for so all advice very welcome.

Thanks for that, Terry. I'm in the process of putting about 200 CDs onto a 20Gb RCA/Thompson Lyra and was wondering how many in mp3 format I can get on a CD as backup.

Agreed, battery life is pretty poor.
